NueroTraining Mode

Follow a 20-45 minute structured TeNS stimulation and feedback program. Used Daily for the first 3 weeks, this mode is designed to help you focus on the stimulations around your residual limb, helping you to understand the phantom limb is not real.

Active Relief Mode

Quick, targeted relief from pain when it strike. A brief 15 minute session helps calms flare-ups through soothing electrical stimulation. The effective TeNS mode helps provide immediate relief and comfort, so you can get back to your day and be pain-free.

  • NeuroTraining: SDT Therapy

Start with a weekly rehabilitation programs using the intuitive software. Each day you’ll complete a series of short, guided sessions to help improve the visualisation of your limb and bring brain and body into alignment.

  • NeuroTraining: Maintenance

After your first few weeks, we recommend
continuing with regular top-up sessions each week. This helps
reinforce progress, and maintains the positive visualisation of your limb.

  • Active Relief Mode for When Pain Strikes

These short sessions of calming stimulations uses target and proven electrical stimulatiion therapy to provide drug free relief when you need it the most.

  • Before Amputation

Your brain over many years has built a relatinship with your body, and a detailed visualisation of the body is imprinted int he brain. This body map is used to process and understand stimulations, sensations, and movement.

  • After Amputation

That visualisation can remain the same, even when the body has changed. The brain expects signals from a body part that is no longer there. This confusion can be experienced as pain.

  • No Perception of a Phantom Limb

If you have a more accurate visualisation of the body. This can result in the re-alignemnt between the brain and the residual limb, helping to reinforce that the phantom limb is not there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the two therapy modes for, and for how long do I use them?

The first mode is NeuroTraining. This is Sensory Discrimination Training, or tactile training. NeuroTraining helps retrain the brain by stimulating specific areas of the residual limb, helping the brain “re-map” itself and learn that the phantom limb is not really there.

We recommend 15 sessions in your first month, you can do them on consecutive days or take a day off here and there. Each session should last around 20-45 minutes

Each session builds on the last, improving your ability to process and recognise stimulations, leading to long-term neuroplastic change. As a guide, a top up session each week following this first month will help maintain your rehabilitation.

The second mode is Active Relief. This is a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) mode to be used when pain strikes. It uses carefully designed electrical pulses to block pain signals from reaching the brain, offering effective temporary relief. In this mode you apply the specific Active Relief pad and have the option of 3 different treatment programs that run for 15 minutes.

How many pads are used, are they included, and can I buy more?

NeuroTraining pads are disposable and a new one is used for each session, this ensures stimulations are always clear and effective. In both the Buy and Try options you receive 15, this is enough for your 30-day initial therapy program.

Just like with any training, we recommend top-up sessions - around one a week This helps you continue to improve, and ensures your brain does not return to its previous, confused state. If you chose to Buy, you will receive 12 months' worth of rehabilitation pads on demand. If you chose to Try, simply choose an ongoing subscription to continue with your rehabilitation.

Active Relief pads can be used around 25 times so should last you a while, when you need more simply place an order on the website.

What are the benefits of NeuroTraining for phantom limb pain?

NeuroTraining, or SDT, promotes neuroplasticity, helping the brain adapt to the loss of a limb by creating new neural pathways. This can help your brain understand your body better and respond more appropriately to signals coming from the affected area.

A non-invasive, drug-free therapy with proven effectiveness in providing long term change.

Why SensTrain is different to alternatives like Mirror Therapy, or Drug Therapy using Opioids?

SensTrain offers a long-term, non-invasive solution without the risks associated with opioids, such as addiction or side effects. Unlike Mirror Therapy, which requires visual trickery to provide a short-term reduction in pain, SensTrain directly helps the brain change the way it visualises the body, providing long term relief.
