NeuroTraining

Follow a structured rehabilitation program developed by clinicians to help retrain your brain's response to your missing limb. With regular use, this mode supports long-term improvement by helping the brain adapt and realign with your body.

Active Relief Mode

Quick, targeted relief from phantom or residual limb pain. A brief session calms flare-ups through soothing electrical stimulation, providing immediate comfort so you can get back to your day pain-free.

  • NeuroTraining: Core Therapy

Start with weekly rehabilitation programs using the mySensTrain app. Each week, you’ll complete a series of short, guided sessions to help improve the visualisation of your limb and bring brain and body into alignment.

  • NeuroTraining: Maintenance

After your first few weeks, we recommend
continuing with regular top-up sessions — around one week per month. This helps
reinforce progress, and maintains the positive visualisation of your limb.

  • Active Relief Mode for When Pain Strikes

Active Relief Mode provides short sessions of calming stimulation whenever pain flares up. It’s based on widely used TENS
technology and is there when you need quick, drug-free support. Use it
    alongside NeuroTraining or
on its own — it’s flexible, fast, and fits your day.

As you retrain your brain, over time, the phantom limb is minimized or removed from the brain’s image of the body; this can help to reduce the associated pain.
  • Before Amputation

Your brain builds a detailed visualisation of the body and uses this to process and understand stimulations, sensations, and movement.

  • After Amputation

That visualisation can remain the same, even when the body has changed. The brain expects signals from a body part that is no longer there. This confusion can be experienced as pain.

  • After NeuroTraining

NeuroTraining helps the brain rebuild a clearer, more accurate visualisation of the body. As the brain learns the body better, confusion fades. This can result in a reduction in pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the two therapy modes for, and for how long do I use them?

The first mode is NeuroTraining. This is Sensory Discrimination Training, or tactile training. NeuroTraining helps retrain the brain by stimulating specific areas of the residual limb, helping the brain “re-map” itself and learn that the phantom limb is not really there. This process can phantom limb pain.

We recommend sessions of around 30 minutes but you're free to do more! Each session builds on the last, improving your ability to process and recognise stimulations, leading to long-term neuroplastic change

The second mode is Active Relief. This is a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) mode to be used when pain strikes. It uses carefully designed electrical pulses to block pain signals from reaching the brain, offering effective temporary relief. In this mode you apply the specific Active Relief pad and have the option of 3 different treatment programs that run for 15 minutes.

How many pads are used, are they included, and can I buy more?

NeuroTraining pads are disposable and a new one is used for each session, this ensures stimulations are always clear and effective. You will receive 15 - This is enough for your 30-day initial therapy program.

Just like with any training, we recommend top-up sessions - normally 5 over a one-week period each 3 months. This helps you continue to improve, and ensures your brain does not return to its previous, confused state. Depending on your purchase method, you may have already received top-up packs, or they are available to purchase.

Active Relief pads can be used around 25 times so should last you a while, when you need more simply place an order on the website.

What are the benefits of NeuroTraining for phantom limb pain?

NeuroTraining, or SDT, promotes neuroplasticity, helping the brain adapt to the loss of a limb by creating new neural pathways. This reduces phantom limb pain by teaching the brain how to process sensory input more accurately, leading to long-lasting relief.

It’s a non-invasive, drug-free therapy with proven benefits in reducing pain intensity and improving quality of life.

Why SensTrain is different to alternatives like Mirror Therapy, or Drug Therapy using Opioids?

SensTrain offers a long-term, non-invasive solution without the risks associated with opioids, such as addiction or side effects. Unlike Mirror Therapy, which requires visual trickery to provide a short-term reduction in pain, SensTrain directly helps the brain change the way it visualises the body, providing long term relief.

A small, simple device with an easy-to-use app is all you need to start your journey to a life with less pain.
